It was the romance of the rails that attracted M.F. McGrew to become a trolley buff and to help create the Pennsylvania Trolley Museum in Washington, Washington County.

"When you're riding a train, you can't see where you're going," said Mr. McGrew's son, Jon McGrew. "When you're riding in a trolley, you can sit next to a trolley driver and watch the rails as they take you to your destination, And then there's the appeal of going back to an era in history."

M.F. McGrew, of Asbury Heights, Mt. Lebanon, a respected advertising company typographer and author on trolleys, died on Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2007, at Asbury Heights. He was 94.
