Layer by layer, the huge mound of unstable earth along Route 65 in Kilbuck is growing stronger.

Wal-Mart is caretaker of the 75-acre site, even though the company abandoned plans to build a Supercenter because of a 2006 landslide that dumped 300,000 cubic yards of rocks and dirt onto the nearby highway and train tracks that hug the Ohio River.
