Zen Nightclub Where Two Were Shot Investigated for Overcrowding

Summary


Police estimate about 700 people were crammed inside a Station Square nightclub -- more than double the number allowed -- when a gunman opened fire, wounding a man and a woman.

Pittsburgh officials said they are investigating reports of chronic overcrowding at the Zen Social Club, which is permitted for 265 people. The Allegheny County District Attorney's office, which several weeks ago placed Zen on a list of problem bars, said it plans to meet with the owner and find out if he has plans to address the issues.
